KIRI came into being under the wave of scientific and technological innovation. Jointly launched and co-constructed by leading domestic scientists and overseas returnees who have successfully started their own businesses, Zhongguancun Development Group, HCCD, and directly governed by  Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology, it focuses on the layout of advancing science and groundbreaking technologies, especially in the fields of material, life, information, energy and environment. Rooted in Huairou Science City, it serves Beijing, covers the whole country, and devotes itself to building an industrial technology research and transformation base with global influence.
