KIRI Overview

KIRI was jointly initiated and co-constructed by leading domestic scientists and overseas returnees who have successfully started their own businesses, Zhongguancun Development Group, and HCCD. Since the conception was put forward, and to the substantive preparation stage, it has received much attention and strong support form Beijng Municipal Committee Organization Department, Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission, Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology, Beijing Huairou District Committee of CPC, People's Government of Huairou District, and Huairou Science City Management Committee, has aroused strong repercussions among experts of The Recruitment Program of Global Experts.

At present, KIRI is about to launch nearly ten  industrialization projects, which will directly attract hundreds of senior talents to gather and develop, and drive the output value of hundreds of millions of highly sophisticated industrial projects.

Beijing Kilo-Innovation Research Institute (or "KIRI") is a new type of institute for research and development as well as industrial transformation in the new historical period, which implements the strategy of strengthening the country with talents and driving innovation, and gives full play to the main force of entrepreneurial talents returning to China.

Aiming at material, life, information, energy and environment, KIRI is committed to building itself into a globally influential industrial technology research and transformation base by benchmarking international advanced industrial technology research institutes, integrating Chinese characteristics, conducting research in cutting-edge fields, conducting research and development of industrial technologies, introducing high-end talents, transformmajor achievements, and investing in key industries. The development goals of KIRI are:

Ⅰ. To be a key research base in cutting-edge fields.  KIRI will introduce and build a public research and development platform, a third-party independent laboratory and a base for accelerating incubating teams returning from overseas, provide supporting policies and services, attract high-level talents in diversified ways, and promote major scientific and technological innovations in cutting-edge fields based on application and transformation with energy, life, material, environment and information as the focuses.

Ⅱ. To be a research and development base for key technologies common to industries. Fully considering Beijing's national science and technology innovation construction plan and Beijing's top ten high-tech industrial development policies, KIRI will focus on the needs of economic and social development, support the research and development of key technologies common to industres, focus on solving the main technological bottlenecks in the development of industries, promote the construction of Beijing's new economic structure with advanced, sophisticated and cutting-edge industries, transform and upgrade enterprises, and improve the quality and efficiency of industries.

Ⅲ. To be a platform for introducing and training high-end talents. Take advantege of the global talents resources, attract and develop top scientists, innovation teams, and top laboratories and help them to settle in Beijing.

Ⅳ. To be a professional platform for transfering and transforming major achievements. KIRI will build productive service industries covering international cooperation research, intellectual property rights evaluation and trading, big data centers, human resources sharing centers, third-party scientific and technological service alliances to promote major scientific and technological achievements to realize value.

Ⅴ. To be an agency for promoting investment in key industries. Referring to the mode of Taiwan Industrial Technology Research Institute and relying on its market-oriented operating companies, KIRI will combine the introduction and cultivation of industries with all-stage investment in vertical fields to speed up the industrialization process of technological achievements.
