The Unveiling Ceremony of Settling down of ANSO at Huairou Science City

On November 7, the unveiling ceremony of settling down of Alliance of International Union of Science Organizations (ANSO) at the Huairou Science City was held in Huairou Science City Innovation Town, Beijing.

Representatives from Asia, Europe, Africa and international organizations attended the unveiling ceremony.

Bai Chunli, president of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Liu Yinchun, deputy secretary-general of the Beijing Municipal People's Government, attended the ceremony and delivered speeches. The unveiling ceremony was presided over by Dai Binbin, secretary of the Huairou District Party Committee and secretary of the Huairou Science City Party Committee.

Representatives at the ceremony discussed and shared their visions on issues such as "new opportunities and new development for the establishment of ANSO in Huairou Science City" and "promoting the international development and international scientific and technological cooperation of Huairou Science City", and reached a consensus that the ANSO and Huairou Science City should interact with each other and jointly serve the BRI. The unveiling ceremony was co-sponsored by the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Beijing Municipal People's Government, and co-sponsored by the Alliance of Internatioinal Science Organizations in the Belt and Road Region, Huairou District Government and Huairou Science City Management Committee. 

To settle down the ANSO in Huairou Science City on the first anniversory of its establishment is an important decision made with the concern and support of the Party Central Committee and the State Council. The aim is to vigorously promote the formation of the alliance, inject new impetus into the internationalization and new development of Huairou Science City, and it is of great significance to the construction of an international academic ecology and the enhancement of international influence in Huairou Science City.

On November 4, 2018, ANSO was formally established in Beijing. This is the first comprehensive and substantive international scientific and technological organization jointly initiated and established by the academies of sciences, scientific research institutions, universities and international organizations of countries and regions along the belt and road under the framework of the belt and road initiative. On the establishment of the alliance, Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory letter, and Vice Premier Liu He made a special trip to attend the inauguration ceremony of the alliance, read out President Xi Jinping's congratulatory letter and made an important speech. In his congratulatory letter, President Xi Jinping pointed out that "scientific and technological cooperation with relevant countries is an important part of jointly building the BRI and plays an active role in improving people's livelihood, promoting development and coping with common challenges". He also stressed that he hoped that the scientific communities of all countries would join hands and work together to give full play to the alliance as a platform for strengthening the connections between science and technology innovation policies and development strategies, carrying out major scientific and technological cooperation, training innovative and entrepreneurial talents, enhancing scientific and technological innovation capabilities, making important contributions to promoting the common aspiration of the people and sustainable economic and social development, the construction of a green road and an innovative road, and the construction of a community of shared future for mankind.
